Our Philosophy

Mostly fun and games

For us, gaming is serious business. We know what it’s like to pay fifty, sixty, or seventy dollars on a game just to get a dolled-up dud. You load it up once before it gathers dust on the shelf. Or, a more modern phenomenon: you take up a “free-to-play” game only to find that winning a round costs ten dollars a month. In a year, they’ve gotten more from you on the “free” game than they would have for a paid one. All the while, the product itself keeps getting worse.

The gamer is always right (until proven otherwise)

Abscure needs your feedback, good or bad. We want to get better as a studio and that can’t happen without a dialogue with you. Even an angry one-star review has a silver lining: we will have a better idea of what to do (or rather, what not to do) in the future. This is not a promise that every single suggestion will be implemented—however, we know that without your voice, our product won’t reach its potential. Plus, if you pay for the game, you also pay for the right to let off a little steam at the developer’s expense.

Can’t win ‘em all

We want to make challenging games. If you beat everything on the first try, you’re robbed of the great feeling that comes with beating a boss on the fifty-first attempt. That said, there’s a fine line between “hard” and “frustrating.” We feel that it’s up to us as developers to make sure that victory or defeat depend on your skill, not from us pulling a cheap trick on you. Our work is to make your failures, well, your failures and not ours. Don’t take that the wrong way—if we thought you couldn’t do it, we wouldn’t make it a challenge in the first place.
